Easter Art Activities- Decorating Easter Eggs

Decorating Easter eggs are so fun and there are so many ways to decorate them. Here are some ideas you can try with your kids!

Don’t forget to boil your eggs! Sounds silly I know. One time I was dying eggs with my family and my uncle slipped in a non-boiled egg to trick us later - not cool!

Traditional Dyeing:

    • Use commercial egg dye kits or create your own natural dyes using ingredients like beets, turmeric, and spinach. Dip the eggs in the dye for vibrant colors.

      Marbling Technique:

    • Drop different colored nail polish into a bowl of water and gently dip the eggs, allowing the polish to create a marbled effect on the surface.

    • You can also create a marbled look by using Cool Whip and spreading it out on a tray - then add a few drops of food colouring spaced out on the Cool Whip. With a toothpick you can swirl the food colouring around -don’t mix the colours too much then you can roll your egg in the Cool Whip

      Decoupage Eggs:

    • Cut out small pieces of colored tissue paper or napkins and use Mod Podge or a mixture of glue and water to decoupage the pieces onto the eggs.

      Sharpie Doodles:

    • Use colorful Sharpie markers to draw intricate designs, patterns, or even write messages on the eggs.

      Tie-Dye Eggs:

    • Wrap eggs with rubber bands before dyeing them, creating unique tie-dye patterns. Remove the rubber bands after dyeing to reveal the design.

      Washi Tape Eggs:

    • Decorate eggs with colorful and patterned washi tape. Cut the tape into various shapes and sizes to create interesting designs.

      White Crayon:

    • Use a white crayon to draw or write a design on your egg -then dip the egg in dye to reveal your design!

      Silk Tie Eggs:

    • Wrap raw eggs with pieces of silk ties or scarves, securing them with rubber bands. Boil the eggs, and the silk pattern will transfer onto the eggs, creating a unique design.

      Nature-Inspired Eggs:

    • Use natural materials like leaves, flowers, or herbs to create botanical imprints on the eggs. Secure the items onto the eggs with pantyhose or cheesecloth before dyeing.
