Art Activities for 7 Year Olds
As an artist and art teacher, I have a lot of different art activities for 7 year olds to do whether you are a parent or teacher. Art Activities for 7 Year Olds
Sketchbook Drawing
Give your child a gift of a sketchbook and encourage them to draw daily. Sketchbooks are also great for road trips especially if your child doesn't get carsick, but it is also great for periods of waiting like packing it along in a backpack when you're waiting in the doctor's office or waiting for the bus or airplane train, etc. you can let your child draw in the sketchbook with a variety of art materials and I really encourage you to let them experiment and play.
Zentangle Art
I have two different Zentangle art resources to help your 7 year old. These are perfect for a 7 year-old or up to try. I have my zentangle colouring pages that also show different practice pages an example pages for how to zentangle. I also have my zentangle letter art pages where are your child can do as zentangle design for the letter in their name or the different letters of the alphabet. Symmetry Drawing
Symmetry drawing is fun for seven year olds, because it combines math and art together. It will also help improve your seven year old drawing skills by making them a better artist, and better at drawing more realistically.

Acrylic Painting
Colour mixing is a foundational art skill for your seven year old to learn how to do. It can be also fun to really let your child experiment with acrylic painting. You can check out my painting video link where I am painting with different flowers and leaves. This can be a really fun art activity for seven-year-old to try and have fun with you can also paint with a variety of different materials like cars, rubber bands, yarn, cooking utensils, etc. Just let your child experiment and play!
Fibre Art
There are lots of great fiber art, or textile art that your child can try. They can learn simple sewing. And sew their own small pillow, a small purse, or a small, stuffed animal. They can also learn simple hand embroidery stitches that they can do. Weaving is another fiber art activity that your 7 year old can try. They can weave with paper, yarn, with beads, with pretty much anything.
Nature Art
One of my favourite art activities is creating a nature mandala outside. You can create a nature mandala with leaves, in the snow, or with fresh flowers. To learn more about my nature art mandala lesson-click here!
Collage
Collage is a really easy art activity for 7 year olds to try. They can collage with a variety of different art materials as well as mixed media where they are using multiple different art materials in one collage. You can use collage with glue and paper, old magazines, cards, scrap fabric, etc. You can encourage your child to create a mosaic where they are cutting up small squares of different coloured pieces of paper to create an overall shape.
Or you can create a more abstract collage, like a collage of a landscape, and then using different coloured papers and fabrics to create a landscape picture.
