Christmas and Winter Symmetry Drawing

Check out my Christmas symmetry drawing bundle for middle school students in this drawing bundle there are symmetry drawing that is themed with snowflakes, with Christmas, and with winter designs. You can also purchase the individual symmetry drawing packs for either winter, snowflakes, or Christmas symmetry drawing pictures.

Make Paper Snowflakes

I love making paper snowflakes. You can use classic white paper to do that. I really love cutting the paper out as a circle shape than folding it, and putting my designs to make a round paper snowflake.

You can also make paper snowflakes with a coffee filter. You can colour on the coffee filter with washable markers, and then spray it with water from spray bottle. Let the coffee filter paper snowflake dry overnight.

Once it is dry you can fold it in half, fold it in half again, fold it in half again, and fold it in half one more time. Use a pair of scissors cut out a bunch of shapes and you have an intricate detailed and colourful rainbow paper snowflake that looks beautiful hanging up in the window with natural sunlight shining through it.

Not Everyone Celebrates Christmas

It's important to remember that not every student celebrates Christmas in the classroom so I love teaching about different holidays in the classroom and asking my students what holidays they celebrate.

I invite students to create a slideshow presentation about their holiday. They can show different photos and can talk about the types of food that they eat. This is of course, optional, but students love sharing about themselves and their family, and the traditions that they celebrate during the holidays.

A lot of my students celebrate Diwali. Diwali varies each year for when it takes place but usually it's between the month of October and December. I have created some mandala symmetry that is perfect to use for Diwali. You can check out mandala symmetry for middle school by clicking here.

Another great art activity that is in that is great for celebrating. Diwali is creating a nature mandala you can do this outside with nature, or you can even do this outdoors in the snow to learn more about my nature mandala activity click here.
