How Clean Paint Brushes Can Be!
Type of Paint Brushes
There are different types of paint brushes. Some bristles have natural fibres like made from animal hair like horse hair or hog hair. Natural hair paint brushes are harder to clean because the paint can really attach itself to the bristles, making it difficult to clean.
The other type of paint brushes are synthetic bristles. These bristles are made from plastic. Since plastic is an easier material to clean, the paint washes and removes it from the bristles easily.
How Clean Paint Brushes Can Be!
Step 1- clean your brushes right away
Remember that acrylic paint dries fast and hardens as a plastic. You want to make sure you are washing paint brushes as soon as you are done.
Step 2 - use soap
I use a drop of dish soap in the palm of my hand and swirl the bristles around on my palm. I keep doing this until all the paint is removed from the bristles.
Step 3- rinse until the water is clear
It is important to keep rinsing the paint brushes until the water is clear. If that means you need to add more soap, then you can go ahead and add more soap
Step 4 - bang off any particles of paint
You can tap your bristles on the side of the sink or a cup to loosen up the paint particles on the bristles to ensure the bristles of the paint brush are clean
Step 5- store your paint brushes properly
You never want to store paint brushes with the bristles facing down - you always want them facing up! If they are down the bristles can get smooshed and when they dry they can stay and hold that shape.
